OUR PROGRAMS:

Maintenance Program
The maintenance program is for students who need a minimum number of sessions. It provides the students with 5
tutoring sessions.

Intensive Program
The intensive program is for students who require a little more tutoring time. This program provides the students
with 10 tutoring sessions.

Super Intensive Program
The super intensive program is for students who require quite a bit of tutoring time. This program provides the
students with 20 tutoring sessions.

Curriculum
Micheaux’s Learning Center follows the student's school  curriculum. Our tutors will work with current classroom
assignments and prepare for upcoming tests as opposed to assigning excessive additional material that would only
further overwhelm already troubled students. What they learn during each session will be directly applied to their
class work.

After-School Improvement
A program open to students in grades K-12, is a supportive environment in which students can complete homework
assignments, study for tests, work on projects or essays, prepare for standardized tests, or work on Micheaux's
Learning Center enrichment materials under the guidance and supervision of a Micheaux's Learning Center
Academic Coach. This program is intended for students who need occasional help completing homework rather
than the intensive one-on-on intervention of private tutoring.
  • Students work in an optimal atmosphere for completing school work.
  • Academic Coaches are available to answer academic related questions in a small-group setting

Summer Enrichment Institute
Summer gives students a chance to relax from the daily pressures of school. But taking too much of a break from
learning can have a negative impact on them, according to the John Hopkins University's Center for Summer
Learning.*

According to the center's Web site, "All young people experience learning losses when they do not engage in
educational activities during the summer."

The Problem: On average, students lose about 2 1/2 months of grade level equivalency in math skills, regardless
of socioeconomic backgrounds, during summer break. Reading results showed differences based on a family's
income level. On average, middle-income students showed slight gains in reading performance during summer
months, while low-income students showed a loss of more than two months in reading achievement.

The Solution: Micheaux's Learning Center Summer Enrichment Institute. The Summer Enrichment Institute (SEI),
helps students maintain the gains they have made during the school year by focusing on math and reading skills
over the summer months. Not only do we offer math and reading classes but students can also choose to take
computer courses, foreign languages, and test prep classes.

ACT Test Prep
The ACT® test assesses high school students' general educational development and their ability to complete
college-level work.

The multiple-choice tests cover four skill areas: English, mathematics, reading, and science.
The Writing Test, which is optional, measures skill in planning and writing a short essay.
MLC offers a 24 hour ACT Test Prep Program that uses real ACT tests as practice exams.

We provide our students with the following:
  • The ACT Diagnostic Test
  • 4 real ACT practice tests
  • 24 hours of class time
  • 3 ACT textbooks

SAT Test Prep
The SAT® is a globally recognized college admission test that lets you show colleges what you know and how well
you can apply that knowledge. It tests your knowledge of reading, writing and math — subjects that are taught every
day in high school classrooms. Most students take the SAT during their junior or senior year of high school, and
almost all colleges and universities use the SAT to make admission decisions.

Taking the SAT is the first step in finding the right college for you — the place where you can further develop your
skills and pursue your passions. But SAT scores are just one of many factors that colleges consider when making
their admission decisions. High school grades are also very important. In fact, the combination of high school
grades and SAT scores is the best predictor of your academic success in college.

MLC offers a 24 hour SAT Test Prep Program that uses real SAT tests as practice exams. We provide our
students with the following:
  • 4 real SAT practice tests
  • 24 hours of class time
  • 2 SAT textbooks
